Lord Crewe & Karam
Throughout quarantine, I wrote a series of blogs highlighting Rockstar Pro Wrestling's current reigning Champions and several of our “top guy” veterans. I decided to revisit the series and write another feature on two of the young lions that are the future of Rockstar Pro: Lord Crewe & Karam.
Lord Crewe & Karam are, both, big badasses from “Murder City,” Detroit. Known as “the Bareknuckle Berserker,” Lord Crewe is a tall, lanky tattooed street fighter who was toughened by the straight-edge hardcore scene. Crewe began making a name for himself in the Cincinnati area. With his unique look and impressive height & reach advantage, it wasn’t long before the bareknuckle brawler made his way to Rockstar. Initially, as do most young talent trying to break in at Rockstar, Crewe competed primarily in multi-person “Mosh Pit” matches.
One night, last spring, Lord Crewe was randomly booked in a match against another Rockstar looking to break through to the Main Event, former Rockstar Pro Tag-Team Champion Austin Manix. The two Detroit bad boys tore the house down! “The office” decided we wanted to see these two go at it, again! This would lead to a wild Best-of-7 Series where each match was more violent than the one before! The three biggest stories out of Rockstar Pro in the summer of 2019 were the “curse” of the Intergalactic Championship, the “Summer of PUNX” and the Best-of-7 Series between Crewe & Manix. The series would end up going all 7 matches. Match 7 ended in a no-contest, with neither man able to continue, so the series went to an 8th match! Both Manix and Crewe elevated their game through that series. A random booking between two “mid-card” talents would end up making Rockstars out of both men. Talk about rising to the occasion & making the most of an opportunity!
After his Best-of-7 Series against Austin Manix, Lord Crewe would go on to be crowned the first Amped Champion! In his biggest singles victory to date, Crewe successfully retained against the most decorated Champion in Rockstar history, Aaron Williams, at “HorrorCore.” Crewe would then team with Crash Jaxon, Impact star Wentz & ECW legend The Sandman at Rockstar’s annual “Thanksgiving Classic!” At “A Killer Xmas,” Crewe won a triple-threat match that included 7’ 300 lbs Impact star Madman Fulton! Lord Crewe is the real deal!
Karam, another young talent out of Motor City, debuted at Rockstar as part of Detroit’s infamous Death Threat Army crew. Right away, Karam looked like a breakout star. The kid is jacked, athletic as Hell, with incredible raw power. He’s known as the “Wahash,” Arabic for monster. The only thing he lacked was experience. Karam came to Rockstar to gain that experience against the best talent the Midwest Territory has to offer. Before long, DTA found themselves involved in a rivalry with Rockstar Original Nate Wings. Wings continued to best members of DTA until the Wahash made it his mission to defeat Rockstar’s resident high-flyer. Karam’s massive size & strength advantage wasn’t enough and, time & time again, Wings would use his speed, agility & experience to come out on top in this David vs Goliath match-up.
Eventually, Karam’s size & power earned him a win over the Rockstar O.G. to prove he belonged at Rockstar Pro. Through their many battles, Wings & Karam built a mutual respect. As Wings’ feud with DTA continued, Karam eventually came to the aid of Wings against his DTA teammates. The unlikely duo of Wings & Wahash looked like they could become serious contenders to the Tag-Team Championship, then, Karam went down to an injury and was out of action for several months.
After factions like All Money In and DDTrash began running roughshod over Rockstar, using their numbers to their advantage, Crewe decided he needed someone to watch his back. Crewe announced his surprise tag-team partner was an old friend from Detroit: the returning “Wahash” Karam! These two Motown maulers are quite the combination! The new duo would end up scoring a non-title win over Tag Champs DDTrash! That lead to a Championship match where Crewe & Karam won via disqualification! The title cannot change hands on a DQ but it earned this impressive young team another Championship opportunity. In the rematch, DDTrash would end up retaining the title (albeit under controversial circumstances) but this new, young team scored TWO victories over the Champions, proving that they are a force to be reckoned with in the tag division!
When live events resume, I’m excited to watch this pair improve & grow as a team. Whether in singles or tag-team competition, Lord Crewe & “the Wahash” Karam have incredibly bright futures ahead.
